Ongoing projects

Harmonisation of definitions and terms

Task: To present well-defined and firmly-anchored terms that are necessary in order for the players in the sector – with the help of a “common language” – to be able to develop their work with a focus on customer/passenger needs.

Environmental programme

Task: To encourage development by extending the common environmental programme for the sector to include standard-setting environmental goals so that public transport can contribute increasingly to sustainable development. The basic starting point for the task shall be current national and European legislation.

Programme for security, safety and availability

Task: To produce a “common sector programme for security and safety as well as availability for persons with physical disabilities”, with concrete proposals for how the sector’s players, together with various interested parties within society, can make public transport secure and safe, and at the same time available to persons with physical disabilities.

Co-ordinated information system

Task: To develop a proposal for a co-ordinated system that provides passengers with relevant, neutral information as support in the planning and implementation of their journeys, irrespective of the type of transport and transport company, and in both normal and disrupted traffic conditions.

Future payment solutions

Task: On the basis of an established strategy, to draw up a concrete action plan for the introduction of future payment solutions for public transport. The action plan shall serve as basic input for decisions on the implementation of improvements in existing payment systems in the short and medium terms (1-3 years) and on the introduction of new payment systems in a somewhat longer term.

Regional transport provision programme

Task: To support work on drawing up a regional transport provision programme and the subsequent implementation process so that the chances of achieving regional goals for market share, travel, etc. increase.

The Contract Process

Task: To follow up on how the recommended working process as described in the report entitled “The Contract Process” is being used and the outcome of the contracts that have been entered into in relation to established goals for travel development, etc.

Best practices

Task: To identify and market best practices on the basis of established criteria and to show that the doubling work is being implemented in practical operations. To inspire and guide decision-makers, managers and employees in their work on together achieving the common goals and vision of the sector, and to show that the sector is moving from word to deed.

The Knowledge Lift

Task: Based on the needs of the sector for knowledge and development, to increase the insight into and knowledge of why it is necessary to orient public transport towards customer requirements and results, and what is needed in order to make this possible. In this way, the Knowledge Lift helps to boost the chances of doubling the market share held by public transport and to take a step towards achieving the common vision.

The Statistics Portal

Task: To give the sector players and stakeholders access to a well-developed tool for planning and follow-up in the form of an open, transparent and common Statistics Portal for the sector based on statistics and information from various sources.

Infrastructure

Task: To produce initial input in the form of facts, arguments and concrete proposals for a packaged action plan for government investments and maintenance which, on both a national and a regional level, is judged to be of significant importance for the development of public transport and which has a rapid impact in the form of increased travel and market share.

Taxes and laws

Task: To produce initial input with proposals for the type of changes in taxes, laws and other regulations in Sweden and the EU that can have a rapid impact on the development of public transport and the chances of boosting travel and market share, and thereby contributing to the doubling goal and the common vision.
